Benefits of Learning from Home

This is a blog post discussing the merits of education providers such as Kaplan distance learning.

Until recently, obtaining a degree, or an equivalent level of qualifications, involved a great deal of time, expensive, energy and effort. Affording to go to university, in terms of both money and the time spent, has meant that this kind of higher education has not always been available to everybody.

Increasing numbers of students are enrolling in universities every year, which has meant that education is limited for those who do not have the cash, existing qualifications, or have to battle with responsibilities to which they are already committed.

Luckily, however, there is an alternative to the traditional mode of education at university or an equivalent centre for education. Online universities offer open learning, allowing students to complete courses from home.

Out of the many benefits learning from home can provide, one of the primary advantages is financial. University fees are increasing substantially from 2012 onwards, and establishments will be permitted to charge up to ₤9,000 for a year of education. With almost all universities having already decided to charge that maximum fee, students in a few years’ time may be leaving university with debts of up to ₤30,000.

This has been putting more and more students off the idea of higher education and forcing them to abandon qualifications and careers that they feel they can no longer achieve. However, online universities such as Kaplan Online Learning, an online university directly affiliated with the University of Essex, offer courses that are equal to full degree courses at a fraction of the cost.

For more information about available courses and costs, you can visit www.kaplanopenlearning.org.uk. With a range of different courses on offer, Kaplan Open Learning provides students with the chance to complete a full degree course from home and, if necessary, on a part time basis, allowing access to higher education to those who otherwise may have thought further qualifications no longer an option.
